Bestowed Essentials is a handmade manufacturing company of eco-friendly cleaning & personal care products.
Our mission is to maximize the accessibility of a sustainable lifestyle through our affordable products, educational resources & social impact initiatives. Learn more on how we use our business for good!
Bestowed Essentials began as a simple Etsy soap shop in January 2017. Since then, we’ve grown tremendously under the leadership of our founder Callee, a US Navy veteran & passionate environmental activist. Our products are now available on the shelves of over 200 stores across the United States & Canada. Read more about the history of our company here.
Our all-female team is dedicated to doing our best to help the planet every single day. From our career choices down to the food we eat (all vegans & vegetarians here), everything we do is a conscious reflection of our core values.

All team members, including interns, are paid a living wage calculated by their zip code of residence. Work hours are flexible around school & personal schedules, with unlimited no-questions-asked time off for mental health. We offer 2-4 paid hours for volunteering every month, depending on full or part-time employment status. Team members get a 40% discount off any products in our Hippie Haven Shop. We also host monthly manifestation chats to envision & encourage each other’s successes.
We have strict requirements for our ingredients – they must be truly natural, as in from the Earth – none of that greenwashed bullshit. We refuse to use sulphates, parabens, artifical preservatives, coloring or fragrances, or anything else questionable. We also strive for sustainable sourcing, spending dozens of hours researching every single ingredient. Our product line is certified vegan & cruelty-free and as such, we’ve ensured that our ingredients are as well. In addition, we’re all about supporting other female-owned small businesses, so that’s a factor in our decision making as well. Our primary ingredient suppliers are:
Belle Chemical Co – a family-owned small business in Montana
Black Hills Chemical – a local small business less than 4 miles from us
Brambleberry – a woman-owned small business in Washington
Frontier Coop – an earth-conscious member-owned coop in Iowa
New Directions Aromatics – an eco-friendly company shipping from New York
San Francisco Salt Co – a sustainabililty-minded company in California
Soaper’s Choice – a woman-owned small business in Illinois
Starwest Botanicals – an earth-conscious small business in California
Wholesale Supplies Plus – a woman-owned business in Ohio
We currently acquire most of our ingredients in 50 lb quantities or larger. We repurpose 50# paper bags as padding in our wholesale shipments, we recycle 50# plastic bags locally, and we give away 50# plastic pails to local farmers & gardeners to repurpose. We also reuse plastic gallon jugs for our bulk orders.
